We've had a wonderful week. the cottage is so peaceful and we
have slept so well, lovely comfy beds. the location is wonderful.
Highlights include York and the walk around the city walls, Rievaulx
and Fountains Abbey, RHS Harlow Carr, the magical steam train across
the Moors, James Herriot museum in Thirsk and Castle Howard, the
local pubs served excellent food .... so we are going home happy and
rested. Thank you. August 2019
We have had a most enjoyable week. Its fifteen years since we
were in Yorkshire and we had forgotten how friendly everyone is.
Thank you for the welcome pack and for all the lovely things you
provided to make our holiday a success. May 2019
Looking back through this book, I see that this is our 8th visit
to this cottage and we have stayed in four others at Old Oak on
multiple visits ...... we like it here!! We can recommend a visit to
Sam Turners at Northallerton, With the usual excellent walking in
the part of the world, we can recommend the daffodils in Farndale at
this time of year. For a super light lunch or coffee, try the book
shop in Thirsk. The cottage, as usual, has been a very comfortable
base, and its a great pleasure to see our great friends Amanda and
John. April 2019

Our cottages are extremely well situated for visiting all that Yorkshire has to offer without having to drive too far - the list of things to do is endless - for a brief idea of where to visit and things to do in the area, have a look at our 'local information' page. There are many (up to date!) leaflets in all our cottages and we can always help you out with suggestions.
We are very fortunate to have many excellent restaurants and pubs within a short drive of the cottages, the nearest, 1.5 miles away (and one of our favourites!) is in the next village to us - The Carlton Inn, Carlton Husthwaite. On booking, guests are sent a very useful list of recommended places to eat out, which is helpful for pre-planning. We are more than happy to help with recommendations and make table reservations for you prior to your arrival or during your stay.
