Always love to return to Old Oak Cottages as often as we can. all the
cottages are so clean, so comfortable , so well equipped in a quiet
peaceful location, but with so many places to visit nearby. Squirrel has
lovely far reaching views of the countryside and the White Horse of
Kilburn. We climbed here on our last visit in December. I had the
wonderful facility of the pool all to myself every dip. Thank you Amanda
and John for the very generous welcome hamper and for your attention to
detail. New places visited this time and usual favourites, Must come for
longer next time. June 2017

return to Beaver cottage each evening. the cottage is extremely well
equipped and very homely. We swam each morning and enjoyed the spa and
sauna. Great location and wonderful to look out of the window at the
ewes and lambs. thanks! May 2017

the years in various cottages, all so comfortable, clean, warm, cosy and
ideal for all our needs. So relaxing and a pool too!. Who could ask for
more. Thank you once again Amanda and John for welcoming us back, your
most generous hamper, fantastic facilities and attention to detail. December 2016.
A lovely place for a celebratory family get together, lovely quiet
location, beautifully decorated and furnished cottages, we all enjoyed
the facilities, welcome basket and luxurious lines. December 2016
We've had a superb week here at Owl
cottage with fantastic weather as an added bonus. The cottage and
facilities (pool, sauna, grounds) are all first class and we felt at
home straight away and the hamper a thoughtful and kind welcome. We
enjoyed cycling in spectacular countryside, daily swims, visits to York,
Helmsley, Rievaulx, Sutton Bank, Kilburn and the local pubs. Many Thanks

Our cottages are extremely well situated for visiting all that Yorkshire has to offer without having to drive too far - the list of things to do is endless - for a brief idea of where to visit and things to do in the area, have a look at our 'local information' page. There are many (up to date!) leaflets in all our cottages and we can always help you out with suggestions.
We are very fortunate to have many excellent restaurants and pubs within a short drive of the cottages, the nearest, 1.5 miles away (and one of our favourites!) is in the next village to us - The Carlton Inn, Carlton Husthwaite. On booking, guests are sent a very useful list of recommended places to eat out, which is helpful for pre-planning. We are more than happy to help with recommendations and make table reservations for you prior to your arrival or during your stay.
