a basket full of goodies to start us off and anything you need -
it's in the cottage! the second day we ventured into the lovely York

ourselves, which was amazing. thank you for letting us stay and we
will be back! Feb 2018

and back again in three weeks! Our favourite haunt for a chill out
time, plenty to do in the area and always a very warm welcome from
Amanda and John. Looking forward to our next visit! Oct 2017
Last here ten years ago - how time flies. Had forgotten how
lovely it is here with so much to do. Cottage perfect, welcome pack
lovely, won't leave it as long next time! Sept 2017
What an absolute pleasure it has been to stay here in Beaver
cottage. Our first visit but not our last! It has been the perfect
base from which to visit many interesting and beautiful places, and
its been great returning to the fully loaded cottage each night for
a swim with the girls before dinner. The grounds are utterly
gorgeous, perfectly maintained and it feels like you have considered
every little detail from Nespresso coffee maker to a set of steak
knives, to a jumbo trampoline and playground, to the fabulous pool,
to helpful instructions sent before arrival. Five star *****! thank
you Aug 2017
Always love to return to Old Oak Cottages as often as we can. All
the cottages are so clean, so comfortable , so well equipped in a
quiet peaceful location, but with so many places to visit nearby.
Squirrel has lovely far reaching views of the countryside and the
White Horse of Kilburn. We climbed here on our last visit in
December. I had the wonderful facility of the pool all to myself
every dip. Thank you Amanda and John for the very generous welcome
hamper and for your attention to detail. New places visited this
time and usual favourites, Must come for longer next time. July 2017
Wonderful Cottage, Everything we needed, lovely countryside. Babies
very well catered for. Many thanks. June 2017

Our cottages are extremely well situated for visiting all that Yorkshire has to offer without having to drive too far - the list of things to do is endless - for a brief idea of where to visit and things to do in the area, have a look at our 'local information' page. There are many (up to date!) leaflets in all our cottages and we can always help you out with suggestions.
We are very fortunate to have many excellent restaurants and pubs within a short drive of the cottages, the nearest, 1.5 miles away (and one of our favourites!) is in the next village to us - The Carlton Inn, Carlton Husthwaite. On booking, guests are sent a very useful list of recommended places to eat out, which is helpful for pre-planning. We are more than happy to help with recommendations and make table reservations for you prior to your arrival or during your stay.
